Thank you for taking the time to read this, all this information is for your reference throughout your wedding journey with us! 

Weddings are our business, and we love that you have booked with us. 

We (Mary and John) with our carefully selected team have poured our hearts and souls into this business. 

We use family heirlooms, glasses, china, lots of things passed down in our family to share with you.

We want your day to as special as possible. 

We can accommodate Dog Friendly ceremonies

Nothing gives us greater joy than to see happiness, and this world needs lots of that! 

If you have questions not answered here, please email them to Mary- we know you have lots of questions which is why we created this Wedding Guide.

We pay every attention to detail as possible, so you can have a wonderful day! 

We like to surprise you with an added touch here and there. 

We are a small business and don’t charge for extras like others do. 

Read this entire guide somethings won't apply to you if you're just having a ceremony- or an elopement. 

But it's all a good read!

What's Included


Ceremony Staging – We have lovely white Chiavari chairs and benches that we provide for the ceremony, set around the arbour for friends and family to enjoy your ceremony. 

Signing table – We provide a table draped in a white table covering adorned with vases of flowers and a lantern for decor.

Officiant – We provide a certified Ontario Officiant (the owners Mary and John are officiants) to marry you. 

We offer different services to choose from, a civil ceremony and a religious ceremony, and vow renewals and commitment ceremonies for those renewing their relationship

We can accommodate Dog Friendly ceremonies

Welcome to your special day!


  • We have a call with you a 14 days before your wedding to discuss any details
  • Please bring your license (Don't forget)
  • Your ceremony and time will be pre arranged.
  • If you are inviting guests please have them arrive just 15 mins before the ceremony and they can park across the street FREE at the park. 
  • Please don't park in the driveway :)
  • Your ceremony will be in the garden under the wedding arch, If it rains or off season we will have the ceremony in our beautiful Garden House.

Elopements for Two Package

  • We preschedule a call with you 14 days before your wedding to discuss details
  • Check in to your accommodation at 2 pm if you like before your ceremony and get settled and dressed.
  • Please bring your license (Don't forget)
  • Ceremony time will be at the pre-arranged time.
  • If you are inviting guests please have them arrive 15 mins before the ceremony and they can park across the street FREE at the park. 
  • Please don't park in the driveway :)
  • If you are on your own please let us know so we can arrange witnesses.
  • Your ceremony will be in the garden under the wedding arch, If it rains or off season we will have the ceremony in our beautiful Garden House or Livingroom.
  • Chiavari chairs will be set up and a signing table
  • If you would like music we can arrange a wireless speaker and play a song while you walk to the ceremony.
  • Have anyone you'd like to walk with you 'down the aisle'.
  • We guide you from the house to the ceremony area and tell you where and when to start walking.
  • We arrange guests where to be seated etc.
  • Your Ceremony will start and takes approx 15 mins including signing of the license.
  • During the ceremony and afterwards photos will be taken.
  • There will be photography included in your package unless other arrangements have been made
    After Ceremony 
  • After your ceremony we provide what is described in your package (some packages include a dinner for two and or Horse and Carriage)
  • Champagne flutes with sparkling drinks
  • Wedding Cake for cutting and enjoy leftovers can be wrapped to take home!
  • Overnight for Two and Room Service breakfast the next morning!
  • We can only accommodate those registered in your reservation in your room. 
  • Guest Bathroom is in main house at front door

'Sunset Dinner & Reception Wedding' 5-10 pm 


  • Welcome to your special day! Say 'I Do' and enjoy a reception in our Garden House
  • We have a call with you 14 days before your wedding to discuss details 
  • DON'T FORGET YOUR LICENSE! 
  • Officiate for your customized wedding ceremony in the garden or in Garden House at 5 pm
  • A signing table 
  • White Chiavari chairs and benches for seating 
  • Wireless speaker for ceremony and reception music  
  • Professional Photography included for 50 + digital portraits for you to download of ceremony and after. 
  • Please tell your guests: Park across the street it is FREE, + arrive only 15 mins before the ceremony. 
  • All children must be supervised at all times as we have a small pond and grounds. There is a play park across the street. 
  • If you would like to book a guest room for anyone or have your guests contact us directly.. You can book all the rooms for the night at a special price we can add it to your reservation.
  • Have anyone walk you down the aisle.
  • Choose a wedding song you'd like - we ask you to allocate someone coming to your wedding to link to our bluetooth speaker to play the music for your wedding
  • Choose your ceremony and Vows HERE 
  • Choose from our menu for ALL guests it is a buffet dinner served French-style buffet
  • We provide water, tea and coffee if you'd like soft drinks or punch or wine or beer please provide. 
  • We also have glass Jug containers with a spout! 
  • Are you bringing a bar? You can bring wine or beer for your reception. You will need to add $275 as we provide a smart serve bartender for up to 40 people. 
  • We provide two Smart Serve bartenders for 41 guests and over for an additional $275=$550 for two bartenders- please note they have to adhere to the government rules and regulations and cannot over serve or to permit alcohol that is not permitted onsite.
  • No hard liquor is permitted- the insurance is just too high (please don't sneak any in or the Smart Serve bar will be closed immediately)
  • You will need Party Alcohol Liability Insurance : https://www.palcanada.com/index.php/en-us/policies/event-hosts/party-alcohol-liability  and a minimum of 4 million dollars liability insurance
  • We supply SmartServe Bartenders, ice and glasses- you supply pop, juice, and any lemons or limes etc..  
  • Your events ends at 10 pm and all guests depart at that time. You and your guests are welcome to head off to a nearby bar within walking distance.
  • We adhere to food allergies - please advise vus of any  
  • You can arrive early an hour before to get dressed into your wedding clothes if you like. Please arrive hair and makeup etc, wedding ready.
  • Payment Schedule- please pay balance by etransfer in three payments 
  • 60 days1/3
  • 45 days 1/3  
  • 14 days balance owing before wedding if any additions they can be paid for after our wedding call.

If you have customized items, easel, guest gifts, centrepieces for your table  or bar we will need that them 2 days  before your special day! 

Table Decorations· 

We Provide: Table centrepieces are provided from our in-house stock. You are welcome to provide your own if you wish.

Tables are set with lovely china, flatware, napkins and glasses

· There is a water pitchers filled with ice water.

Guest Gifts and Table Place Cards· •You can drop off any guest gifts or any table seating or place cards the day before your wedding.

· Guest gifts can be set in basket or at each guest’s place setting.· We have a cake stand for your cake.


No rehearsals are necessary with all the guidance and instructions we provide.


Our Payment Plan -  All payments are Etransfer to mary@bayfieldbedandbreakfast.com 

We also require a credit card on file for any incidental’s that may occur.


Accommodations: 

Do you need rooms reserved for your guests? The Bayfield Boutique Bed and Breakfast has three king rooms and a Hideaway suite. Perfect for family and besties attending your wedding. 

We offer a special pricing when reserving your wedding - Ask us for the special pricing!

Book all 4 rooms and SAVE ask us! 


Info about bringing your own bar

  • You can bring wine or beer for your reception. You will need to add $275 as we provide a smart serve bartender for up to 40 people.

We do not serve in plastic and proud to protect our Lake Huron community by not littering unnecessarily. - we recycle.
  • Our recommendations are for your bar for your upcoming event: 

Estimate: 3 beer per person and 1/2 a bottle of wine per person. Not everyone drink or both. So example a 30 person wedding. 3x30= 90 beer (4 cases of beer) + 30 guests x.5 = 15 bottles of wine. Realistically that more than will be drank by 30 people.


Info to share with your guests

What to tell your guests:· 

• Small children need to be supervised at all times.·

• Free parking across the street at the park.

• We are a vintage property, we are not accessible for wheelchairs but certainly walkers and wheelchairs in the garden or Garden House can be accommodated.

• For weddings under 30 the bathroom is located inside the house and it is two steps up, and is located just in the front door area.

For weddings over 35 we have large handicap accessible lovely portable bathrooms.

• Keep the driveway clear for guests to walk into easily accessing the building and gardens.· 

• The wedding area will be setup for your guests, and one of our team will be there to greet everyone on your behalf.

• Please have guests arrive 15 BEFORE ceremony only.

30 days before Wedding ·

If you're having a full reception please see the MENU options below decided at this time that is posted on our site. Please advise of any special dietary requirements. · 




Please text us a photo with your wedding license at the earliest time please.


Your Wedding Day Schedule

  • One Partner and Wedding Party please be at the wedding venue 30 minutes prior to ceremony to help greet the guests.  
  • Officiant will be there at the same time to welcome guests and give direction on your behalf.
  • Mary or team person is with the other partner before the ceremony and brings them and their party to the ceremony. Or, if wedding person is coming straight to the venue Mary or staff person will greet them to bring them into the ceremony. 
  • Music - please choose a song you would like to walk into the ceremony to.
  • Wireless speaker - bring a play list for your reception, we have a wireless speaker.
  • Wedding ceremony time is preset- don't be laste your photographer is only hired for the time on your package
  • Wedding Day Mary co-ordinates and directs the group every minute of the way, you never have to worry she is with you right up until you walk into the ceremony.
  • The ceremony is approximately 15 mins. As a ceremony finishes the officiant makes any special announcements before the new couple is announced. The newly married couple will be taking photos outside and nearby for
  • The beverage/bar area is open for guests to enjoy during this time. 
  • The smoking area is at the front of the property in a vintage ashtray. The bathroom location etc. If you have any special announcements, please let us know.· 
  • Everyone is informed what's happening in the next hour and a half while the bride and groom have photos taken. 
  • The Meal -  Mary announces dinner and gets everyone seated. If there is Grace/blessing it will be said by someone you choose. Mary or John then welcomes everyone and offers a special welcome on behalf of the Wedding Couple. We announce the meal and what is being served. At that time our team is introduced to everyone. 
  • Then announced that after dinner, dessert and coffee/tea will be served and at that time any cake cutting etc.· 
  • Speeches can be said during dinner or it can wait until dessert is served too, you can decide.
  • First dance - couple can do their first dance
  • Extra Information for your special day:
  • Outdoor Fire pit
  • There is a fire pit outside that you are welcome to enjoy during or after your reception on nights it’s not too windy or there is a fire ban. You must put the fire out before retiring for the night.
  • Wedding Night After everyone leaves, you relax unwind, for the two of you to enjoy, breakfast is provided the next morning. 
  • Take your time, checkout is at 11 am.
