Dear Wedding Couple,

Thank you for taking the time to read this, all this information is for your reference throughout your wedding journey with us! 

Weddings are our business, and we love that you have booked with us. 

We (Mary and John with our carefully selected team) have poured our hearts and souls into this business. We use family heirlooms, glasses, china, lots of things passed down in our family to share with you.

We want your day to as special as possible. Nothing gives us greater joy than to see happiness, and this world needs lots of that! 

If you have questions not answered here, please email them to Mary- we know you have lots of questions which is why we created this Wedding Guide.

We pay every attention to detail as possible, so you can have a wonderful day! 

We like to surprise you with an added touch here and there. 

We don’t think you should know everything about your day!

We are a small business and don’t charge for extras like others do. 

We don’t even add a mandatory gratuity; we leave that up to your discretion.

Read this entire guide somethings won't apply to you if you're just having a ceremony- or an elopement. But it's all a good read!

Have you been divorced?

Please have your divorce papers before you get started as you will need them for your wedding license and due to back logs at the Office of the Registrar General it make take longer than expected.

Our Payment Plan -  All payments are Etransfer or certified cheque 30 days before wedding please etransfer 50% of your balance to mary@bayfieldbedandbreakfast.com 

14 days before your wedding please email balance of your wedding to mary@bayfieldbedandbreakfast.com  We also require a credit card on file for any incidental’s that may occur.


Accommodations: 

Do you need rooms reserved for your guests? The Bayfield Boutique Bed and Breakfast has three king rooms. Perfect for family and besties attending your wedding. 

We offer a special pricing when reserving your wedding - Ask us for the special pricing!

Book all three rooms and SAVE ask us! 

We do require a two night minimum on high season weekends from June 1- September 30th


Info about bringing your own bar

  • We provide a Smart Serve bartender to serve alcohol at your wedding. They are certified by the province of Ontario under https://www.agco.ca/ They have to comply with the rules and laws regarding serving alcohol in Ontario.
  • If you’re having a wedding larger than 40 you will require two bartenders.
  • Please purchase mix in large pop bottles and beer in bottles or cans.  We offer One Glass Receptions which means, each guest gets to choose one glass for the evening to drink out of - we are happy to refresh and wash the glass throughout the evening. We do not serve in plastic and proud to protect our Lake Huron community by not littering unnecessarily. - we recycle.
  • Our recommendations are for your bar for your upcoming event: Please see this link to calculate your drinks: https://www.theknot.com/content/how-to-stock-the-bar-at-your-wedding


  • You need to purchase party alcohol liability insurance a minimum of a $2 million insurance policy. https://www.palcanada.com/index.php/en-us/ If it is a larger wedding greater than 40 and greater we require a minimum 4 million policy. Please bring the policy printed out with your bar for your event.
  • Please schedule a call with your Wedding Manager Mary Regarding your bar before purchasing your alcohol 519-240-0308
  • This is a private event that is not open to the public, it is by invited invitation only and you are not selling any drinks. If you wish to sell drinks you will need a Special Occasion permit from https://www.agco.ca/
  • We look forward to hosting your special event and want to host a very successful and happy reception. We have put these procedures in place for your protection

90 Days Before Wedding

This is the time you should be sending out your wedding invitations!·

If you have been married and divorced outside of Canada, you need to have your divorce papers please call your local municipal office ASAP and ask what they require.


Hair and Makeup Services - Please discuss with Mary about bringing in these outside services.


Info to share with your guests

What to tell your guests:· 

• Small children need to be supervised at all times.·

• Free parking across the street at the park.

• We are a vintage property, we are not accessible for wheelchairs but certainly walkers and wheelchairs in the garden or Garden House can be accommodated.

• The bathroom is located inside the house and it is two steps up.and is located just in the front door area.

• Keep the driveway clear for guests to walk into easily accessing the building and gardens.· 

• The wedding area will be setup for your guests, and one of our team will be there to greet everyone on your behalf.

• Please have guests arrive 15 BEFORE ceremony only.

30 days before Wedding ·

If you're having a full reception please see the MENU options below decided at this time that is posted on our site. Please advise of any special dietary requirements. · 

Your wedding ceremony

Your wedding officiant Mary or John will be in touch with you 2-4 weeks before your wedding to discuss options and how you can personalize your ceremony. 

Did you know the most important part of the wedding is the legal ceremony and it only takes about 15 minutes! 

We can offer you a civil or non-denominational ceremony or without, readings, poems, lighting of candles, pouring of sand, etc. You can also write your own vows to exchange with each other. ·

7 Days before Wedding· 

If more people are added after this date this can be settled the week of the wedding.·

We schedule a PRE-wedding call that we telephone you at a convenient time to go over EVERYTHING! 

What song would you like to walk the isle to? 

You are welcome to bring a playlist for the wireless speaker.·

Super important Don't forget your license


If you have customized items, easel,

guest gifts, centrepieces for your table  we will need that the night before your special day! 

Table Decorations· 

We Provide: Table centrepieces are provided from our in-house stock. You are welcome to provide your own if you wish.

· If you anything specific to your table setting, we will need that a day before your special day!

 · Your table is set with lovely china, flatware, napkins and glasses

· There is a water pitcher per table as well, filled with ice water.


Guest Gifts and Table Place Cards· •You can drop off any guest gifts or any table seating or place cards the day before your wedding.

· You are welcome to bring a signing book and pen if you choose, and a gift envelope box.

· Guest gifts can be set in basket or at each guest’s place setting.· We have a cake stand for your cake.


No rehearsals are necessary with all the guidance and instructions we provide.


Please text us a photo with your wedding license at the earliest time please.


Your Wedding Day Schedule

  • One Partner and Wedding Party please be at the wedding venue 20 minutes prior to ceremony to help greet the guests.  
  • Officiant will be there at the same time to welcome guests and give direction on your behalf.
  • Mary or staff person is with the other partner before the ceremony and brings them and their party to the ceremony. Or, if wedding person is coming straight to the venue Mary or staff person will greet them to bring them into the ceremony. 
  • Music - please choose a song you would like to walk into the ceremony –to.
  • Wireless speaker - bring a play list for your reception. we have a wireless speaker.
  • Wedding ceremony time is preset
  • Wedding Day Mary co-ordinates and directs the group every minute of the way, you never have to worry she is with you right up until you walk into the ceremony.
  • The ceremony is approximately 15 mins. As a ceremony finishes the officiant makes any special announcements before the new couple is announced. The newly married couple will be taking photos outside and nearby for
  • The beverage/bar area is open for guests to enjoy during this time. 
  • The smoking area is at the fire pit only. The bathroom location etc. If you have any special announcements, please let us know.· 
  • Everyone is informed what's happening in the next hour and a half while the bride and groom have photos taken. 
  • The team will be rearranging the tables and chairs for the meal and finishing preparing the wedding dinner/lunch.· 
  • The Meal -  Mary announces dinner and gets everyone seated. If there is Grace/blessing it will be said by someone you choose. Mary or John then welcomes everyone and offers a special welcome on behalf of the Wedding Couple. We announce the meal and what is being served. At that time our team is introduced to everyone. 
  • Then announced that after dinner, dessert and coffee/tea will be served and at that time any cake cutting etc.· 
  • Speeches can be said during dinner or it can wait until dessert is served too, you can decide.
  • first dance - couple can do their first dance
  • Extra Information for your special day:
  • Outdoor Fire pit
  • There is a fire pit outside that you are welcome to enjoy during or after your reception on nights it’s not too windy. You must put the fire out before retiring for the night.
  • Wedding Night After everyone leaves, you relax unwind, for the two of you to enjoy, breakfast is provided the next morning. 
  • Take your time, checkout is at 11 am.

Currently we offer French Table Service which means our staff delivers each food choice 

to the table and serves each guest individually.
